When NBC News broke the story about Secretary of State Rex Tillerson calling President Donald Trump a “moron” and threatening to quit this past summer, MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle provided some additional details to that report. Namely, Tillerson didn’t just call Trump a moron, he called him a “f*cking moron.”
Ruhle appeared on All In with Chris Hayes this evening and had some commentary to add to the drama surrounding the Trump/Tillerson relationship. Regarding Tillerson’s Wednesday presser in which he heaped praise on the president, but notably did NOT deny using the M-word, Ruhle snarked on Tillerson’s performance.
“Think about this. Rex Tillerson comes out there, gives that press conference to an audience of one, apologizing to the president, saying you’re the smartest, prettiest, greatest, bestest boss there ever was in the whole universe, but by the way, I’m not going to comment on whether or not I called you a moron because, from the parts where I come from, that’s too petty to say that.”
She went on to knock Trump for acting like the White House isn’t in chaos and is a well-oiled machine, wondering aloud what “kind of well-oiled machine leaks like this.” Ruhle also indicated that Tillerson has to be very unhappy at the State Department before commenting on Trump’s recent “calm before the storm” remarks.
