Stephanopoulos Predicts Palin, Huckabee & Newt To Delay WH Bid For More Fox Airtime

This morning’s Good Morning America featured a story on likely Republican candidates for President in 2012. The report from Claire Shipman simply rehashed familiar facts about potential contenders, but during the post-report conversation between GMA co-host George Stephanopoulos and Shipman, a new provocative little nugget of information snuck out.

Stephanopoulos smartly speculated:

One of the reasons that some of them may not want to get in so quickly, by my count, at least four of them: Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, all have contracts at Fox News – they might want to keep that going for a while.

Even Shipman then agreed that Fox News is “a very healthy platform and again name recognition and exposure is key right now.” Just a few weeks ago, former Bill Clinton advisor Dick Morris predicted in a column “The GOP Primaries Of 12 Will Be Held On Fox News,” suggesting that continued exposure on Fox News Channel is the most important way to win the hearts of Republican primary voters. And now it seems like Stephanopoulos agrees that it benefits Palin and company greatly to delay their announcement for as long as possible and enjoy the free and supportive Fox exposure.
