In the opinion of many, President-elect Donald Trump‘s first actions regarding the staffing of his administration have been controversial. It’s not the “Reince Priebus” part of the equation; the RNC chair will be serving as the White House Chief of Staff, a move that many see as an olive branch to the establishment wing Trump demonized on the campaign trail.
But then there’s the “Stephen Bannon” part of the equation, the former Breitbart executive who’s responsible for the flood of mainstream media stories this week about white nationalism, the so-called alt-right, and Pepe the Frog.
Together, Priebus and Bannon are a regular Felix Unger and Oscar Madison, and that’s exactly how The Late Show with Stephen Colbert reimagines them as: The Odd Couple.
“He’s a by-the-book Republican insider,” says the voiceover of Priebus. “He’s an alt-right conspiracy theorist,” it continues of Bannon. The bit then jokingly asks the question that is actually on the minds of many in the real world:
“Can these two men run the White House without driving each other crazy?”
