Stephen Colbert Lampoons Ted Cruz’s Selection of ‘Wicked Stepmother’ Carly Fiorina
Texas Senator and Republican presidential math problem Ted Cruz took over the political news cycle Wednesday with his announcement of Carly Fiorina as his potential running mate, a move that was met with a mixed reception, at best. One point of near-unanimity, however, has been the moment during the announcement when Fiorina gently broke into song, which apparently charmed everyone in the universe. Well, almost everyone.
On Thursday night’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, host and fundit™ Stephen Colbert took vicious aim at Cruz’s stunt, lampooning the gimmicky nature of the selection and the fact. That if you. Pause every several words. You’re not pausing for effect, you’re just pausing.
Right at the end of the bit, though, Colbert even took a shot at that now-iconic serenade of Cruz’s daughters, saying “It’s like Disney gave the Wicked Stepmother her own song.” Watch the video above, from The Late Show.
