Steve Doocy: CBS Should Address Attkisson’s Claims About ‘Propaganda’ Outlet Media Matters
On Sunday, former CBS News investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson revealed that she regularly received calls from representatives with the media monitoring group Media Matters for America with offers to help craft stories. On Friday, Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy said that CBS needs to respond to the charge that Attkisson was “targeted” by MMFA, which he said was an outlet dedicated to disseminating “propaganda.”
“Keep in mind, Media Matters is a George Soros-funded, way left-of-center political group,” Doocy informed Fox’s audience on Monday. “And for a bona fide member of the mainstream media to be taking their assistance, which is clearly propaganda, is extraordinary.”
“They’re not a watchdog, they’re an attack dog,” Doocy said after playing a clip of Attkisson giving a description of the group’s mission statement.
Media Matters recently responded to Attkisson’s allegation, saying that her charge is based only on her already “shoddy reporting.” Doocy observed that MMFA did not deny the charge that they sought to help produce stories she was researching.
“Somebody at CBS needs to come out, given the fact that [they are] a far-left attack dog — Media Matters is — and say, ‘They never helped us,’ or ‘They helped us with this, this, and this,'” Doocy continued. “And that would apply to the other networks as well.”
