“It’s impossible to overstate what a big deal this is,” Republican strategist Steve Schmidt said on MSNBC. “How important it is.”
On the off chance you’ve been hiding under a rock today (and who among us could blame you, if that’s the case), Schmidt, of course, was speaking about the plea deal agreed to by former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn. And he was also referencing the subsequent report that as a result of said deal, Flynn is prepared to testify against President Donald Trump, members of Trump’s family, and other White House officials.
Friday on Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace, Schmidt seemed to indicate that the former National Security Advisor flipping is a development which spells doom for Trump and others in the West Wing. A vocal Never-Trumper, Schmidt blasted the President for lying in the Russia affair.
“Once again today, this moves closer to the Oval Office,” Schmidt said. “And we see the unraveling of all the lies. The President’s lies, the Vice President’s lies, the Attorney General’s lies, and we see an administration that has a nonstop proclivity to lying, now we’re seeing the criminal consequences of it.”
