Jon Stewart tonight went after a very cynical midterm game President Obama and the Democrats played: a “chickensh*t gambit” to boost their electoral chances by doing and voting on nothing.
Stewart ran down a list of actions Obama delayed, like nominating an Attorney General and action on immigration, until after the election, because Democrats didn’t want to take tough votes that would hurt them in the midterms. And Stewart said they may have been so cynical as to ask Obama to delay the Keystone pipeline vote literally just so they could rail against him for delaying it.
Stewart joked that there’s literally just one day of the year Congress “can get shit done” and all Democrats did was sit around and try to make their mouths pop. And all in the name of a strategy to “not do anything so as not to offend the voters who already didn’t like them.”
