Jon Stewart opened Wednesday night’s Daily Show taking on the Arizona discrimination bill, expressing disdain with how “morally repugnant” it is and how much Republicans opposing it aren’t even acknowledging that as the reason it’s bad in the first place. Stewart said Arizona is lucky they have a warm climate, because “if you had your attitude and Seattle’s climate, you would be world’s largest condom and nuclear wast dump.”
Stewart mocked the concerns of conservative Christians warning of “the tyranny of Arizona’s of-course still-illegal gay wedding industry” and repeatedly saying the bill’s “morally repugnant,” calling out all the Republicans opposing the bill but doing so for economic reasons and such.
Stewart did credit Megyn Kelly for saying that this bill might have been an overreaction from conservatives saying religion is under attack, though Stewart couldn’t help but wonder where on earth people would have gotten the idea that religion is under attack, proceeding to mock Fox News’ “constant barrage of apocalyptic paranoia and outrage.”
