New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has made it clear on the campaign trail he’s taking a hardline on admitting any refugees––even orphans under five––into the United States. On CNN’s State of the Union this morning, Jake Tapper pointed out to Christie that there are already dozens of refugees in New Jersey.
He asked, “Should they be ousted from your state?”
Christie said he and other governors should have been informed, but they weren’t because the “imperial administration” decided to put people in states across the country without first consulting state governments.
Tapper still pressed him on whether he would “oust” the refugees already in his state or if it’s “okay that they’re there.”
Christie deferred, saying there should be a safe zone in Syria for refugees because “this is not an issue we should even be addressing inside the United States.”
