Tavis Smiley Has An Issue With Paul Ryan’s Budget Ad: If This Was Shot In A Gov’t Building, ‘That’s A Problem’

Talk show host and author Tavis Smiley stopped by the set of MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Friday, where he was taken back by one particular aspect of Rep. Paul Ryan‘s commercial on the House Budget Committee, which shows the Congressman walking down a hallway and discussing the nation’s budget crisis while noting that he had been “here, in Congress.”

“No,” responded Lawrence O’Donnell emphatically. “You cannot shoot a political commercial in the halls of Congress. That must be another hall.”

“It looks like a hallway in a government office building, and if that commercial is shot there, that’s a problem,” Smiley continued.

Later — continuing on the “aesthetics” of the commercial — O’Donnell noted that there was a “grimness” to the whole thing.

For, really, who’s to say it wasn’t shot in the Overlook Hotel.
