Ted Cruz and Van Susteren Rail Against Weinstein’s NRA ‘Hypocrisy’

On Thursday evening, Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren sat down with Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) to discuss what they both evidently see as the “hypocrisy” of producer Harvey Weinstein making a film that he says will make the NRA “wish they weren’t alive.”

“The Hollywood liberal elites, they have their view of things…” Cruz said after watching a montage of violence from films Weinstein has produced. He pointed to the clip of Uma Thurman severing limbs with a sword in Kill Bill and said, “you don’t see people wanting to ban knives.”

Cruz predicted the market will “take care” of this situation, because “left-wing propaganda films” don’t tend to do very well at the box office. While Weinstein may have had some experience with that phenomenon, he’s also produced several of Michael Moore’s films, which went on to become some of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time.

“We have a right to protect ourselves, it’s protected in the Constitution,” he continued, “so even if liberal Hollywood types want to take it away, it isn’t going anywhere.”

Van Susteren went even further in her criticism of Weinstein than Cruz did, calling his view on gun violence “the death of shame.”
