Ted Cruz Won’t Tell CNN Whether He’ll Support McConnell for Majority Leader

Now that the Republican Party has seemingly taken over the U.S. Senate, the next big conversation will be whether the newly-emboldened GOP will support a Sen. Mitch McConnell move from the chamber’s Minority Leader to Majority Leader. Late Tuesday evening, Sen. Ted Cruz refused to tell CNN whether he’d be in support of that.

Election night anchor Wolf Blitzer twice asked Cruz whether he intends to throw his support behind the newly re-elected McConnell, the “establishment” GOP leader who had once been a punching bag for the more conservative elements of the party.

“That’ll be a decision for the conference, and that’ll be decided next week,” Cruz said both times Blitzer asked the question.
