Ted Nugent called into Fox News this afternoon to respond to people drawing parallels between him and Kathy Griffin.
Griffin’s photo with a bloody severed Trump head received lots of condemnation, and she apologized. But then she held a press conference today to say the last few days have been really difficult for her, even saying the president is “trying to ruin” her life.
A lot of people this week have been asking what about Nugent, given how he was recently at the White House despite the incredibly controversial things he’s said about Barack Obama in the past. Sean Spicer deferred when asked about Nugent this week.
Well, the man himself called into Fox News Specialists today to reject the comparison and say, “I did not threaten anybody’s life.”
There were two comments in particular he addressed: 1) that time he said if Obama won reelection he would be “dead or in jail” by next year, and 2) when he said back in 2007 that Obama should “suck on my machine gun.”
The first, Nugent claims, was just him expressing fear of his government. The second was apparently supposed to be an “outrageous metaphor” to make a statement about gun control.
“I did nothing to harm anyone,” Nugent said. “She came out with symbolism that was truly vile.”
(That first comment of his earned him a Secret Service visit, subsequently dropping their inquiry.)
