‘Terrorists Do Not Worship God, They Worship Death’: Trump Speaks in Saudi Arabia
President Donald Trump delivered his big speech to the Muslim world in Saudi Arabia today that called on Muslim nations to step up in the global fight against terrorism.
He spoke about peace a number of times during the speech, also saying that “we are not here to lecture.” Trump said that he wants to see “a coalition of nations who share the aim of stamping out extremism and providing our children a hopeful future.”
He also said that “Muslim majority countries must take the lead in combating radicalization,” but had the following to say on the question of Islamic terrorism:
“Every time a terrorist murders an innocent person and falsely invokes the name of God, it should be an insult to every person of faith. Terrorists do not worship God, they worship death.”
“This is not a battle between different faiths, different sects, or different civilizations. This is a battle between barbaric criminals who seek to obliterate human life and decent people all in the name of religion… This is a battle between good and evil.”
He did go on to say that the Muslim world should be “honestly confronting the crisis of Islamic extremism and the Islamists and Islamic terror of all kinds.”
Trump said that Muslim nations must “drive them out” and not allow terrorists to “find sanctuary on their soil.”
