‘That Fringe Has an Office in the West Wing’: CNN Panel Goes Off Over Bannon
A CNN panel really went off tonight over the selection of alt-right provocateur Steve Bannon to be Donald Trump‘s chief White House strategist.
Margaret Hoover argued Trump has an obligation to dissociate himself from Bannon and the alt-right, while Peter Beinart told Trump supporter Jeff Lord what Trump has unleashed:
“I have seen a lot of Republican presidential candidates. I have never ever had the supporters of a Republican presidential candidate flood my Twitter feed with anti-Semitism by the hundreds of tweets like the supporters of this presidential candidate! It’s getting out of control, Jeffrey!”
Lord shot back that Bannon isn’t anti-Semitic and accused the Democratic party of harboring the real racism. Carlos Watson cried, “You literally are just making stuff up!”
Hoover said the Bannon hire runs the risk of normalizing the more concerning elements of the alt-right, because now “that fringe has an office in the West Wing.”
