‘The Common Denominator Is Islam!’ Fox Panel Gets Heated over Profiling After Chattanooga

Screen Shot 2015-07-18 at 12.12.23 PMAt the start of Fox News’ Cashin’ In today, Eric Bolling updated viewers on the Chattanooga shooting that left four Marines and now one sailor dead, and asked, “Is it time to profile?”

Michelle Fields said of course, because “we don’t have a problem with Buddhist extremists.” She suggested the U.S. should maybe stop accepting immigrants “from areas we know are anti-American.”

Juan Williams said that’s just fearmongering, but Fields insisted, “The common denominator is Islam!”

Williams argued that profiling based on faith and country of origin is a bad idea, but Bolling, Fields, and Jonathan Hoenig all said it’s perfectly fine to scrutinize like that.

Wayne Rogers, however, said that wouldn’t really worked with Chattanooga, because the shooter had nothing to do with ISIS and there was no behavior that raised eyebrows beforehand. He said, “There is no way to find out what they’re gonna do.”

The others still insisted he was motivated by a dangerous ideology and everyone ended up lashing. At one point, Hoenig told Williams, “You’re getting your talking points from CAIR!”
