The Daily Show Analyzes How Fox News Keeps Landing Interviews With President Trump

On Thursday night, The Daily Show examined just how Fox News continues to successfully book interviews with President Trump.

In a segment called “Journalisming with Desi Lydic,” Daily Show correspondent Desi Lydic said the “dream for any journalist” is to land an interview with the president. She noted that Fox News is the best at achieving that dream — scoring more than four times the number of interviews with Trump than the other networks combined.

After watching every single one of those interviews, Lydic insists that securing the interview with POTUS comes down to a “few basic rules.”

The first is taking a “soft approach” with this president — an approach perfected by Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham, Pete Hegseth, Lou Dobbs, and Jeanine Pirro. Among their softballs to Trump; “how does it feel” to be the most “beloved president” and “how was your week?”

The second rule is “positive reenforcement” because not only the president is “always right” but he “needs to know that you know” he’s always right. And “flattery is key.” She used Sean Hannity and the hosts of Fox & Friends as examples.

Lydic put her words of advice to the test as she herself landed an “exclusive” interview with President Trump.

“Mr. President, we know you’re awesome, but just how awesome are you?” she asked Trump.

She also showered Trump with praise… as well as a 12-piece bucket of KFC, a quarter pounder with cheese, a Filet-O-Fish, and two apple pies.

“You are such a good president!” Lydic said. America should just end after you!”
