While the hosts of Fox News’ The Five did not exactly defend the widely-denounced tweet by (now) former public relations executive Justine Sacco, they did commiserate with the beating she took on Twitter after she made it. “We are all one tweet away from being fired,” Dana Perino remarked.
“Did her tweet require firing?” Greg Gutfeld asked in the segment’s opening monologue. “Probably. I thought it was a commentary on how bad blacks have it when it comes to AIDS. But she’s in PR, so she should know better.”
In case you chose to ignore this story over the weekend, here’s the offending tweet:
Sacco later offered what appeared to be sincere apology, but that wasn’t enough for Kimberly Guilfoyle, who asked, “How do you even think like that or say something so reprehensible about a disease that has killed so many?”
Pointing to some past examples of questionable tweets from Sacco, Eric Bolling added, “Everyone deserves second chance, but do you deserve a third and fourth?”
It might not be all downhill from here for Sacco though. “She’ll have a job with a reality show in about 20 minutes,” Perino said.
