Last week, the hosts of Fox News’ The Five were applauding The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart for taking on the HealthCare.gov website problems. Today, they spread the love to another typically liberal comedy institution: Saturday Night Live.
The Five opened with clips from this week’s SNL cold open, which featured a fairly devastating take down of the Obamacare website, with Kate McKinnon as a hapless Kathleen Sebelius.
“Finally a little bit of reality,” Kimberly Guilfoyle said. “Somebody took off the rose-colored glasses and realized there’s problems, there’s flaws, there’s rule issues to be dealt with and a fraud has been perpetuated against the American people. Thank you, Saturday Night Live for being honest.”
One dissenter was Greg Gutfeld, who refused to read into the SNL parody too much. “I feel like the joke is on us for laughing,” he said. “Oh, finally, the cool kids are now seeing what all the dorks have been seeing for two years and we’re supposed to be grateful for this one little, you know, kernel of satire.” He predicted that the actors who mocked the website on TV would still be voting for “big government and wealth transfer.” And that going forward, we will still see comedy shows like SNL make fun of Republicans “90% of the time.”
