The View Clashes Over Melania Trump Cyberbullying Initiative: ‘She’s the Wrong Messenger for Everything’
The View co-host Sunny Hostin decried First Lady Melania Trump’s anti-cyberbullying campaign on Wednesday morning, calling her “the wrong messenger for everything” while pointing at her husband’s use of social media to attack anyone he deems worthy of his Twitter fingers.
The co-hosts were discussing the first lady’s speech at a cyberbullying summit on Tuesday, in which she addressed being “well aware that people are skeptical” of her involvement in the issue. The View hosts were at odds with each other over whether Trump should take on cyberbullying — while Hostin suggested she should get President Donald Trump in check before taking on any campaign whatsoever.
“I think we should always applaud action taken for something good,” co-host Sara Haines said.
“I’m on the other side of that,” Hostin said. “I just don’t think she’s the right messenger for cyberbullying because she can’t seem to control it in her own home.”
“Can you control your husband? I can’t control mine,” Haines quipped.
Hostin was not playing any games, however.
“Yes I can,” she responded, before turning back to the first lady. “She’s the wrong messenger for everything, almost, because of his behavior. She can’t be involved with the #MeToo movement. She can’t be involved with ‘Let’s get fit!’ because her man ain’t fit… she’s in a very difficult position.”
Meghan McCain also took issue with the idea of people being confronted about their spouse’s views.
