The View Clashes Over RNC Ad on the ‘Unhinged’ Left: People Shouldn’t ‘Start Turning Into Trump’

The View today discussed the issue of “unhinged” political rhetoric following a viral ad from the Republican National Committee this week.

The ad, in case you missed it, features Maxine Waters, Kathy Griffin, Samantha Bee, Bill Maher, etc. to make a point about how increasingly “unhinged” the left is becoming.

In a discussion this morning taped before yesterday’s horrific Capital Gazette shooting, Joy Behar found it ridiculously hypocritical, given the unhinged rhetoric from President Trump himself.

And the show played a montage of not just Trump, but Alex Jones, Charlottesville protesters, and the congressman who infamously shouted “you lie!” at former President Barack Obama.

Guest co-host Tara Setmayer said it certainly “starts from the top,” expressing her dismay at how people in her party have “rolled over” and become “cult-like sycophants” for the President.

Meghan McCain took serious issue with Jones being included in the show montage. Setmayer said in response, “Trump also validated Alex Jones, unfortunately.”

McCain said he doesn’t deserve any attention whatsoever before giving a different take on the state of the GOP:

“I don’t consider myself in a cult, I don’t consider myself a sycophant, I just don’t suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome. I’m not someone in the Republican party that lost my mind and can’t call balls and strikes like I see them… If you start turning into Trump, as some commentators in my own party have done, and you become him, and you suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome, everyone stops listening to each other… and we have to be intellectually honest.”
