The View Debates Whether Melania Should Leave Trump: ‘She Knows Exactly What She Got Into’

The View sparred over whether First Lady Melania Trump should divorce President Donald Trump amid reports detailing his numerous alleged affairs with Playboy bunnies and porn stars.

The debate was sparked after conservative commentator S.E. Cupp — who occasionally appears on the ABC show — argued the First Lady should “leave her jerk of a husband” during her HLN show the night before. Cupp compared Trump’s third wife to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, saying “Melania may not have a political career to consider, but as First Lady she is an inherently important figure in American politics, and women are watching. Particularly young women.”

For one, the liberal-leaning co-host Joy Behar was in support of the first lady staying with the president, saying “Stay there darling: First of all, you have all the money in the world, you have your kid, your parents have come over from one of the SSRs, and you don’t have to sleep with him. It’s a win-win!”

Co-host Sara Haines agreed, adding, “When you approach a marriage like this there’s more of an agreement than is realized … I think she knows exactly what she got into.”

While Whoopi Goldberg didn’t state her opinion, she addressed Cupp’s comparisons between Trump and Clinton. “This is nothing like it was with Hillary, because Hillary was the wife from giddy-up number one,” she said. “Melania is number three. And she came in — I mean, I’m sorry, so, you know, S.E., I don’t know what you know about their relationship. I don’t know jack, but I don’t know enough to tell her to leave somebody if she’s perfectly comfortable.”

Guest co-host Anthony Scaramucci spoke up as someone who knows Melania personally and defended her, but Behar said, “We can’t really like her 100 percent because she is a birther like her husband.”
