The View Mocks Jared Kushner’s Diminished WH Role: His ‘Next Step’ is ‘Big Brother With Omarosa’
Cindy McCain, wife of Arizona senator John McCain, was Wednesday’s guest host on The View, and took part in the panel’s pile-on of White House adviser Jared Kushner.
Kushner is senior adviser to his own father-in-law, who happens to be President Donald Trump, and charged with an ever-expanding portfolio of responsibilities that includes bringing peace to the Middle East. Kushner also just had his security clearance downgraded, which is expected to interfere with his broad duties.
The View panel reacted with bemusement to the shaming of Kushner, as well as a dose of outrage in reaction to a report that foreign officials have sought to manipulate the real estate scion by taking advantage of his “complex business arrangements, financial difficulties and lack of foreign policy experience.”
“It’s a broader discussion — this is nepotism,” Cindy McCain remarked. “And I truly believe that in the White House, nepotism should not play a role in any of this, at all.”
“You have two people who are very close to [Trump],” she continued — ostensibly referring to Kushner and his wife/Trump daughter Ivanka — “whose purpose is not the country, their purpose is the man.”
“And that’s a problem, because this is about serving your country,” she added.
View co-host Joy Behar noted that special investigator Robert Mueller is “breathing down Jared’s neck,” before joking “I hope he doesn’t end up on Big Brother with Omarosa.”
“Because that’s the next step, okay Jar?”
View co-host Meghan McCain, daughter of Cindy, said she doesn’t think “anyone should be working in the White House that doesn’t have a security clearance.”
“This is only going to mushroom for them,” she added.
