The View Quotes CNN Staffer on Evacuation: ‘This is What Happens When The President Calls You The Enemy of the People’

The View opened their Wednesday broadcast by addressing the suspicious packages sent to various political figures and media organizations.

Today, emergency services have frantically responding to suspicious packages that were intercepted en route to the Clinton Family, Barack Obama, and CNN’s New York headquarters. The View addressed these developments at the top of the show, and as they remarked the situation, co-host Sunny Hostin invoked a former CNN colleague she’s been in contact with who had this to say:

“This is what happens when the president calls you the enemy of the people.”

Abby Hunstman and Meghan McCain said it was important to avoid speculating so soon, though their colleagues pushed back by noting Trump’s anti-media rhetoric and the pattern between the bomb scares.

“Why did CNN get the bomb?” Hostin said to Huntsman.

“You don’t have to be Sherlock Holmes to figure this one out,” Joy Behar said.

Whoopi Goldberg concluded the segment by saying political disagreements are fine, but threats like this are “not the American way.”

“This is not stuff we should be engaging in for anybody. It’s not good for anybody.”
