The View’s Joy Behar Wants Someone to Yell ‘You Lie’ During SOTU, Whoopi Goldberg Pushes Back

So, today is State of the Union day, and much of the conversation in the media is centered on what to expect from President Donald Trump’s address to the nation.

During this morning’s broadcast of The View, two of the loudest anti-Trump voices on the show disagreed on how Democrats should react during the speech. With the panel discussing their expectations, Joy Behar chimed in to say what she’d like to see happen tonight.

“You know what I want?!” Behar exclaimed. “I want to hear somebody yell out, ‘you lie!’ Just like they did to Obama. You remember that?”

After the audience erupted in cheers and Behar added that Obama “hardly ever lied,” Whoopi Goldberg jumped in to explain why she felt this was a bad idea.

“I don’t want anybody yelling ‘you lie,'” she noted. “I don’t. Because it’s no good. It doesn’t matter who does it, it’s bad. It’s bad to do. There has to be — you know, look. We got two, three more years of whatever is left of this guy’s tenure there.”

Goldberg added, “In that time, I want some decorum returned to the office.”

Behar shot back that “you aren’t going to get it from him,” causing Goldberg to state that “you can get it from the people around” the president.
