On today’s Meet the Press, Chuck Todd and the panel discussed exactly what the Democrats need to be thinking about going into 2017.
Washington Post reporter Robert Costa said that there’s going to be an “ongoing civil war” and the lingering question of whether the Bernie Sanders side will prevail.
NBC News’ Katy Tur added, “Who is the Democratic party? They have to find an identity and they’ve gotta find somebody to rally behind.”
Joy Reid said it can’t be Sanders, because he wasn’t even really a Democrat to begin with.
She also pointed out how active President Obama plans to be post-presidency, and Todd remarked, “Because there’s a vacuum, the party has no choice but to stick being the party of Obama until they find the heir apparent.”
