‘This is True, If Words Don’t Mean What They Mean’: Daily Show Fact-Checks GOP Debate

The Daily Show fact-checked the CNN Republican debate, saying that like its Las Vegas setting, it was “kind of fun but with a nagging sensation you’re getting screwed.”

Desi Lydic checked Ted Cruz‘s numbers on the number of illegal immigrants Bill Clinton and George W. Bush deported, concluding “this is true, if words don’t mean what they mean.”

She disputed Fiorina’s claim about being “called every b-word in the book,” told Cruz that purple unicorns actually do exist, and found it weird that Chris Christie wants to engage with a dead king.

But, of course, that all built up to Donald Trump‘s bold proclamation that nothing in America works anymore.

And technically he’s right, Lydic explained, because “if our political system would be working properly, there’s no way he would be the Republican frontrunner.”
