Tom Steyer Rips ‘Guttersnipe’ Trump For Insulting Him, Creating ‘Atmosphere of Hate’ Amid Bomb Threats
Democrat megadonor Tom Steyer says its “silly” for President Trump to think that he bears no responsibility for the current state of the country that caused him to recently be targeted for acts of violence.
The president called Steyer a “crazed & stumbling lunatic” this past weekend while saying nothing of the fact that one of his supporters was recently arrested for allegedly sending IEDs to Steyer and other Trump critics. CNN’s Alisyn Camerota spoke to Steyer on Tuesday to get a response for all of this, and he slammed Trump for creating “an atmosphere of hate” that leads to “an atmosphere of extreme lawlessness.”
“I think it doesn’t really matter what he says because what he does is so obviously wrong and what he does has led to this breakdown in terms of civil society,” Steyer said of Trump. “Your job is to pull the country together, and you can’t do it. I don’t think there is any point in getting into the gutter with a guttersnipe.”
The interview continued with Steyer tamping down the idea that he’ll run for president, and he also swatted at White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders for insisting that the president’s words can’t be held responsible for the current state of the country.
