Trevor Noah Goes After Mitch McConnell Over Health Care: ‘You’d Think He’d Know About The Tortoise and The Hare’
Thursday night, Trevor Noah went after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the GOP for their handling of health care.
The Daily Show host began by addressing President Trump‘s flip-flop on the House bill, first calling it an “unbelievable victory” in the Rose Garden and then calling it “mean” and a “son of a bitch” in a meeting with GOP senators. Or in “Trump terms,” it went from an “Ivanka” to an “Eric.”
Noah went after the GOP for having closed-door meetings and no open hearings on health care reform. He then went after McConnell for saying “Nobody’s hiding the ball here” and “our goal is to move forward quickly.”
“Shouldn’t your goal be to make a good health care system?” Noah reacted. “Shouldn’t it be about doing it right, not doing it fast? I mean, you’d think of all people Mitch McConnell would know about The Tortoise and The Hare.”
“His cousin won that race!” he added.
Noah then reflected on the passing of Obamacare, which he noted took 11 months to pass the bill in the Senate, but that Republicans still complained that Democrats were moving too fast and being too secret.
He told his audience, “You’ll never guess which Republican complained the most.”
That’s right, Mitch McConnell.
