On Monday night, Trevor Noah slammed Fox News for its handling of the Bill O’Reilly sexual harassment scandal.
The Daily Show host said he was “particularly impressed” with the network’s coverage of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, which “confused” him because of the recent revelation that they re-signed O’Reilly after he paid a $32 million sexual harassment settlement to former Fox News legal analyst Lis Wiehl.
“So we know that Fox News not only knew what O’Reilly was up to for a long time, they even hid some of it,” Noah continued. “Which means while Fox News may be woke in the street, they are definitely enablers in the sheets.”
Noah then mocked the hypocrisy of Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity for going after other news organizations for covering up the Weinstein scandal and while the disgraced film mogul has been shunned from Hollywood, Hannity invited O’Reilly onto his show six months after he was fired.
“Does liberal Hollywood have a problem with sexual predators? Yes. Does conservative Fox News have the same problem? Yes. That is my issue with this, it is not supposed to be partisan,” Noah said. “And Fox was right to call it out not because they can score political points but because it is the right thing to do. So Fox News, please, keep going after sexual harassment, I applaud you. And the great news is, you don’t even have to leave the building.”
