On Wednesday night, Trevor Noah went after Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for his numerous positions in the ongoing health care battle on Capitol Hill.
“Over the years, John McCain has built a reputation of being ‘The Maverick’ of the Senate,” Noah began. “He’s not afraid to speak his mind. He poops in the urinal. When he flies, he picks the middle seat!”
He then noted McCain’s “powerful” remarks he gave on the Senate floor on Tuesday when he said, “I will not vote for this bill as it is today.”
“McCain said this as clearly as possible,” he continued, “that although he voted so that other senators can consider repealing Obamacare, he himself would not support the bill. And he boldly stood by that promise… for nearly six hours.”
The Daily Show host then showed a news clip of McCain supporting a bill that was voted on, but was ultimately rejected by the Senate.
“God damn it, McCain!” Noah shouted. “The man mavericked himself! He said it, then it got popular, so he went against it. He said he hates the process, then he votes to advance it. He says he hates the bill, and then he votes for it. There were yoga teachers yesterday who took fewer positions than John McCain!”
