Trevor Noah Tears Into Schneiderman for #MeToo Hypocrisy: Like If Mueller Was Vacationing With Putin
On Tuesday night, Trevor Noah slammed “The Appalling Schneiderman” after the bombshell report that revealed a history of physical abuse.
The New Yorker broke the story that NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman was accused by four women of being violent towards them which included slapping and choking and they claimed he threatened to wiretap their phones if they spoke out. Within three hours of the story being published and upon mounting pressure, Schneiderman resigned.
“I thought I’ve heard it all, but this guy? He’s like the one guy they wouldn’t let into Westworld,” Noah reacted. “They’d be like, ‘We do some crazy sh*t, but you’re a freak, man!'”
The Daily Show host noted that not only was Schneiderman a strong political opponent to President Trump, but he was also a self-proclaimed “advocate for women” in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
“So it seems like this guy was trying to put Harvey Weinstein in jail while he was abusing women himself,” Noah said. “This is like finding out Robert Mueller has been taking secret vacations with Putin.”
Noah then explained to his audience that Ronan Farrow, who was one of the journalists who broke the Schneiderman bombshell, appeared on his show last night and the taping took place just hours before the story was published. He then took the opportunity to give himself some credit.
“Before taping, I was chilling in the green room with him, you know, getting ready to do the show and he says, ‘Oh, I’m just finishing up a piece. I’m just gonna send this out.’ I had no idea he was ending an attorney general’s career over our Wi-Fi!” Noah exclaimed. “And since I pay for the Wi-Fi, I’d like to think that I did my part. I really think I did.”
