Trey Gowdy Goes Off on Rosenstein and Wray Over Russia Probe: ‘Finish It the Hell Up!’
Someone’s mighty impatient for the FBI to finish up the Russia probe.
That someone is Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), who enjoined FBI Director Christopher Wray and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to wrap up their investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.
“If you have evidence of any wrongdoing by any member of the Trump campaign, present it to the damn grand jury,” Gowdy said during a tense hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday. “If you have evidence that this president acted inappropriately, present it to the American people.”
All the while, Wray gave Gowdy an eyebrow-raised stare, and Rosenstein looked characteristically unmoved.
“There is a saying that ‘justice delayed is justice denied,'” he continued, leaning one elbow against the table, finger pressed to his temple. “I think right now all of us are being denied.”
“Whatever you got,” he concluded, his voice gaining an edge, “finish it the hell up. ‘Cause this country is being torn apart.”
Special counsel Robert Mueller told Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani last month that he hoped to have the probe wrapped by September.
