Triumph the Insult Comic Dog Chats With Ted Cruz: ‘I Support Spaying and Neutering, Just Like Trump Did to You!’

On Monday night, The Late Show sent down a special correspondent to cover the highly-contested Senate race between Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX).

Since Conan O’Brien is on hiatus, Stephen Colbert took the opportunity to assign Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to give The Late Show a close-up look at the race that has gartered national attention.

Triumph began by attending a Beto O’Rourke rally and mocked the candidate’s music to his supporters.

“If Beto wants to stop border crossings quicker than Ted Cruz, they could just play his album down there,” Triump told a group of Beto fans.

He caught up with the Democratic candidate himself.

“Does it concern you that half your base thinks they can vote for you through Instagram?” Triumph asked.

“Yeah, it’s gonna have to turn into real votes,” O’Rourke responded.

Triumph gave a mild defense of Cruz for those who compare him to the Zodiac Killer, calling it “unfair” since his goal to repeal Obamacare would kill “way, way, way” more people.

He finally caught up with the former 2016 presidential candidate.

“Ted, is it true that you’d defend the Constitution at all costs… except for when Donald Trump calls it ugly on Twitter?” Triumph asked.

“I love the Constitution… and Twitter is Twitter,” Cruz answered.

For a brief moment, both Triumph and Cruz extended olive branches to each other, with the Insult Comic Dog defending Cruz’s right to “sit down at a restaurant and enjoy a meal that five waiters have spit in” and Cruz telling Triump that it was the Democrats took him in to “get fixed.”

“I support spaying and neutering, just like Trump did to you!” Triumph shot back.

Triumph later tricked a crowd of Cruz supporters to chant “Lyin of the Senate.”
