Trump Accuses Dems of ‘Treason’ for Not Cheering SOTU Speech: ‘Can We Call That Treason? Why Not?’
President Trump basically accused Congressional Democrats of betraying the country today when he complained about their refusal to stand up and applaud him during his State of the Union speech.
As Trump spoke at a manufacturing plant in Ohio, we went through several of his greatest hits: from bragging about the economy and tax cuts (while claiming he’s “non-braggadocious”) to bashing Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and Hillary Clinton. Eventually, however, he moved on to once again bash Democrats en masse for having “dead silence, not a smile” when Trump addressed the nation last week.
Trump went on to call Democrats “very selfish” and say that they’d rather see the country fail than watch him succeed as president. And that’s when he decided to more or less accuse Democrats of treason.
“They were like Death and Un-American. Un-American. Somebody said ‘treasonous.’ I mean, yeah, I guess, why not? Can we call that treason? Why not. I mean, they certainly didn’t seem to love our country very much. But you look at that and it’s really very, very sad.”
