During President Trump‘s press conference with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, he was asked to explain his tweet celebrating his “total vindication” after James Comey‘s Senate appearance on Thursday.
Washington Times‘ Dave Boyer asked Trump if he has “tapes” of his interactions with Comey, and why he was celebrating when Comey’s testimony “[boiled] down to his word against your word.” Trump said he wouldn’t speak about his “tapes” right now, though he bragged about his election victory and suggested that the question about whether he committed obstruction of justice has been completely settled.
“No collusion, no obstruction. He’s a leaker,” Trump said. After his reference to Comey’s revelations about his unclassified memos, Trump eventually implied that Comey lied under oath to the Senate:
“Frankly, James Comey confirmed a lot of what I said, and some of the things that he said just weren’t true.”
