Trump Biographer on POTUS Going After Reporters: He Acts in ‘Crazy Way’ to Get People to ‘Respond in Kind’

On CNN this afternoon, Trump biographer Michael D’Antonio said President Donald Trump‘s continued attacks on reporters this week shows again that he’s a “verbally abusive person” who sees this as a strength.

This week alone Trump punished Jim Acosta and lashed out at Yamiche Alcindor, April Ryan, and Abby Phillip.

D’Antonio told anchor Ana Cabrera, “He shakes his fist at people or shakes his finger at them. He does things that no one else would do. And part of the method here is to act in this crazy way so that other people will somehow be provoked and then respond in kind.”

Cabrera asked Brian Stelter if there’s ever any justification to pull credentials, like the White House did with Acosta.

Stelter said there certainly could be scenarios where reporters would go too far, but that we haven’t seen that yet. He added that reporters are going “out of their way to be respectful to the president.”
