‘Lock Em Up’: Trump Hits Globalists After Call For Unity at WH Event, Crowd Shouts ‘CNN Sucks’
If you thought that President Donald Trump would actually adhere to the call for unity he’d made after today’s arrest of the mail bomb suspect, think again.
Trump spoke at the 2018 Young Black Leadership Summit from the East Room of the White House on Friday, where he started things off by remarking on the arrest of a suspect believed to be responsible for the bomb scares around the country.
“We must never allow political violence to take root in America,” Trump said. “We cannot let it happen. We are committed to do everything to stop it.”
As the event proceeded, however, Trump ended up going on a number of freewheeling tangents which echoed the rowdiness of his political rallies in many ways. At one point, as Trump brought up his support from Kanye West, he riled up the room by slamming the “fake polls” from the political media.
This drew multiple cries of “fake news” and at least one person who exclaimed “CNN sucks.”
Later on, Trump ranted about “globalists,” which prompted someone to shout “lock ’em up.”
Trump repeated the comment with a chuckle.
The recent threats to the media and Trump critics have prompted a lot of discussion about deteriorating political discourse and whether Trump bears any responsibility to elevate the standard. While Trump is slamming the media for that insinuation and flirting with false-flag conspiracy theories, it should be noted that the suspect arrested today had a van that was covered in all sorts of Trump paraphernalia and propaganda based on his rhetoric.
