Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump expressed some skepticism Monday morning about the Hillary Clinton campaign’s official explanation that she collapsed and had to be escorted away from a 9/11 memorial service because she was suffering from pneumonia.
Speaking to CNBC’s Squawk Box, Trump began by repeating his wish that Clinton get well soon and denying that he felt any sort of glee about the situation. “It’s quite sad,” he said. “I hope she gets well soon.”
“You know it’s interesting because they say pneumonia on Friday, but she was coughing very, very badly a week ago, and even before that if you remember. This wasn’t the first time,” Trump said. “It’s very interesting to see what’s going on.”
In addition to the incident earlier in September, Clinton also had coughing fits in January and during her 2015 Benghazi Committee testimony, with the latter sparking Matt Drudge and other conservatives’ speculation about her health.
