At tonight’s CNN Republican South Carolina town hall, one of the voters in the audience confronted Donald Trump over whether he honestly believes George W. Bush lied to get the U.S. into Iraq.
Oran Smith, the president of the Palmetto Family Council, said it “stung me very deeply” when Trump said Bush lied to get us into Iraq.
Anderson Cooper also jumped in to confront Trump on whether he still really thinks Bush lied. Trump really dodged that one, saying there’s “a lot of people that think that” and insisting that going into Iraq “may have been the worst decision anybody has made, any president has made in the history of tis country.”
He even linked it to the migration crisis in Germany and said it kicked off the “whole destabilization of the Middle East.
Trump again insisted he was against the Iraq war going back to 2002. He said this after BuzzFeed reported tonight that Trump supported invading Iraq in 2002. (Trump was asked about that later and he basically brushed it off.)
