Trump Reportedly ‘Lashed Out’ at Acting AG Whitaker After Being Implicated in Hush Money Scheme
President Donald Trump is reportedly not at all happy with Acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker after he failed to shield him from the fallout from the Cohen conviction and revelations.
Trump’s displeasure reportedly stems from Michael Cohen‘s revelations, which implicated Trump in the hush money scheme.
Trump felt the whole situation was “unfair.”
President Donald Trump has at least twice in the past few weeks vented to his acting attorney general, angered by federal prosecutors who referenced the President’s actions in crimes his former lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
Trump was frustrated, the sources said, that prosecutors Matt Whitaker oversees filed charges that made Trump look bad. None of the sources suggested that the President directed Whitaker to stop the investigation, but rather lashed out at what he felt was an unfair situation.
The first time Trump lashed out was reportedly after Cohen pleaded guilty to lying in front of Congress.
The second time, CNN’s sources reveal, was after prosecutors implicated POTUS in the hush money scheme as “Individual -1.”
Trump reportedly “pressed Whitaker on why more wasn’t being done to control” the prosecutors.
The Department of Justice did not comment on CNN’s report. However, a source close to Whitaker told CNN that the acting attorney general and Trump still have a “great relationship.”
