During his appearance at the GOP Retreat today, President Donald Trump reacted to his Mexican counterpart’s decision to cancel a meeting with him that was supposed to take place next week.
As Trump continues to insist that Mexico will cover the bill for his wall along the border, President Enrique Pena Nieto gave a speech last night where he promised that his government won’t do any such thing. Earlier today, Trump threatened to abort the meeting he had scheduled with Nieto, though Nieto beat him to the punch and announced he wasn’t going to show.
As he spoke from Philadelphia, Trump addressed this by saying that he and Nieto mutually agreed to cancel the meeting.
“Unless Mexico is going to treat the United States fairly, with respect,” Trump said, “such a meeting would be fruitless, and I want to go a different route.”
