A Donald Trump spokesperson today suggested that up to half of all Bernie Sanders supporters may jump aboard the Trump train rather than go for Hillary Clinton.
Recent polls have shown that only about 20 percent of Sanders voters would go for Trump, and a higher percentage of Sanders voters are with Clinton than Clinton voters were with Barack Obama in 2008.
But as Katrina Pierson told Jake Tapper on CNN today, “I think it’s probably gonna be half at some point.”
Yes, that is half of all Sanders supporters coming to Trump. (Based on the very very anti-Trump sentiments Sanders supporters have cheered on, that’s unlikely.)
Pierson did attempt the same outreach effort as the candidate himself, saying that plenty of Sanders supporters are concerned about things that transcend party, like on trade.
