Trump Stands by Belief in Disproven Vaccine-Autism Connection
Hey, remember when anti-vaxxers were a thing? Well, the issue came up at CNN’s GOP debate tonight, where Donald Trump perpetuated the disproven link between vaccines and autism.
Trump has pushed this assertion before despite overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary and the one paper touted as evidence of such was disproven.
Trump insisted he’s not anti-vaccine, but still made the argument that a link exists. He said there should be “smaller doses over a long period of time,” claiming one child he knows of who got autism after getting a vaccine.
And if the smaller doses happen, Trump added, “I think you’re going to see a big impact on autism.”
Ben Carson responded by quipping “he’s an okay doctor” before politely disagreeing.
