Trump Tells Laura Ingraham ‘We Will See’ If Tillerson Will Be With Him ‘For the Duration’
During an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham that aired Thursday night, President Donald Trump seemed a bit wishy-washy about Secretary of State Rex Tillerson sticking around for rest of Trump’s time in office.
With the president getting ready to make a trip to Asia, Ingraham asked Trump about the lack of staff at the State Department and if he’s worried that the agency “doesn’t have enough Donald Trump nominees to push” his vision.
“I am a business person — I tell my people when you don’t need to fill slots, don’t fill them,” POTUS said. “We have some people that I’m not happy with there. Let me tell you, the one that matters is me. I am the only one that matters. When it comes to it, that’s what the policy will be.”
After Trump added that not staffing the State Department to capacity was called “cost saving,” Ingraham asked him again about his “vision.”
“My vision is my vision,” the president responded. “It’s called cost saving. There is nothing wrong with that. Rex is working hard. He is doing his best.”
“Will he be with you for the duration?” the Fox News host wondered aloud.
“Well, we will see,” Trump stated. “I don’t know who’s gonna be — duration? I think the duration — I’ll tell you this.”
And from there, Trump went to talk about how his presidency has been more successful than any other presidency in history through the first nine months. Ingraham followed up by asking if he believed he was getting enough credit for the strong economy. You can guess how he answered that.
Of course, there has been much speculation about how secure Tillerson’s job is following the reports weeks ago that he called Trump a “fucking moron” over the summer after the president expressed his desire to increase the country’s nuclear capability by tenfold.
