Trump: The NFL’s ‘In a Really Bad Box’ Right Now

President Donald Trump was asked yet again today about his continued war of words against NFL players kneeling in protest during the national anthem.

A reporter brought up his reaction to Charlottesville protests versus NFL players’ protests, and in response, the President said, “I think the NFL is in a box, I think they’re in a really bad box. You look at what’s happening with their ratings…Frankly, the only thing that’s doing well in the NFL is the pre-game, ’cause everyone wants to see what’s going on.”

“You cannot have people disrespecting our national anthem, our flag, our country, and that’s what they’re doing,” Trump continued. “And in my opinion, the NFL has to change or…their business is gonna go to hell.”

When one reporter brought up the First Amendment, Trump reiterated that this is about respect, claiming that “largely the fans agree” with him.
