Trump: Univision ‘Takes Its Marching Orders’ from Mexico

Speaking to reporters from his eponymous winery in Charlottesville, Virginia on Tuesday, Donald Trump not only gave his disappointed reaction to the Obama Administration’s nuclear deal with Iran, but also answered questions about the alleged death threats he received from escaped Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman.

“Well, I’ve had threats because I’m talking about Mexico,” Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash. “And I have great respect for the Mexican leaders because they’re much smarter and more cunning than our leaders, and they’re making much better deals.” This line of thinking led Trump to share his broader theories about the Mexican government, which he believes is “calling a lot of shots” in unexpected areas.

Reminding viewers that he is suing Univision for $500 million because of the Spanish-language network’s decision to drop his Miss USA pageant, Trump proceeded to drop this unsubstantiated claim: “I think that Univision takes its marching orders, absolutely, from Mexico.”

At least in the portion of the interview that CNN aired and the quick exchange with Wolf Blitzer that followed, Bash did not question or dispute that claim.

Univision Communications, which is an American-owned company, declined to comment publicly on Trump’s latest accusations, likely due to the pending lawsuit.
