‘Trump Watch’ Day Two: MSNBC Still Talks The Most About Donald Trump

As we announced on Tuesday, Mediaite launched an official Trump Watch™ to hold the cable news networks accountable for giving so much airtime to Donald Trump and his birther nonsense, all while ignoring the other pressing issues of the day.

The first day recap found that while CNN, Fox, and CNBC were the only networks to interview Trump, MSNBC mentioned him the most. Two days into Trump Watch, MSNBC still holds the most mentions.

The tally remains the same for how many networks have interviewed Trump. Since the three interviews on Tuesday, no network has featured him as an interview subject.

TOTAL INTERVIEWS
CNBC – 1
CNN – 1
Fox – 1
MSNBC – 0
HLN – 0
FBN – 0

On day two of Trump Watch, the numbers of Trump mentions on the cable networks held a similar pattern to day one: MSNBC talked about him the most.

TOTAL MENTIONS, DAY TWO
MSNBC – 139
CNN – 82
Fox – 30
HLN – 19
FBN – 10
CNBC – 2

Interestingly, every cable network except MSNBC mentioned Trump less than they did on Tuesday. MSNBC’s mentioned him 18 more times than the day before.

Once again, MSNBC’s high count — 109 more mentions than Fox News — is probably a result of the liberal commentators on the network seeing this (now-concluding?) Trump cycle as an opportunity to take a dig at the Romney campaign. CNN’s second-place count contained many references to the infamous Wolf Blitzer interview from the day prior.
