Donald Trump is headed back to NBC. On Friday night, September 11, the GOP frontrunner will sit down for an interview with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, the network announced Tuesday.

The booking is a big get for Fallon, who will have a new competitor in CBS’ Stephen Colbert starting next week. The new Late Show host publicly campaigned to get Trump on his show’s premiere, issuing a strongly-worded dare last month. In the end, he decided to lock down Jeb Bush for his first episode, set to air next Tuesday night, September 8, instead.

Asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he planned to accept the invitation in a recent interview, Trump said, “He asked me to be on his show, and I haven’t accepted yet, but he wanted me to be on the first show. You don’t know who Stephen Colbert is yet. Is he going to be the man that he was or is he going to be himself? But I think he’ll do well.”

Trump likely assumed — probably correctly, if last night’s Chris Christie appearance was any indication — that a sit-down with Fallon would be a bit less controversial and combative than a showdown with Colbert. Maybe they can even perform dueling Trump impressions.
