Fox News’ Tucker Carlson tonight, during a segment on Brett Kavanaugh‘s hearing today, said he believes that Democrats do have a right to be frustrated about the treatment of Merrick Garland after he was nominated by former President Barack Obama.
Carlson spoke with Brit Hume about the liberal reactions to Kavanaugh and how, as Hume put it, “the left has been much more dependent over the decades on the courts to achieve policy goals it could not achieve through legislation.”
He said the “resistance” is just pure politics, and then Carlson brought up Garland:
“They’re mad about Merrick Garland and honestly I think they have a right to be mad about Mary Garland, actually. I’m probably the only person who thinks that, but I do think that.”
He went on to say the Democrats aren’t making arguments against Kavanaugh concerning “his ideas or his fitness for the court.”
One person who noticed the comment from Carlson was MSNBC’s Ari Melber:
Democrats “have a right be mad about Merrick Garland.”
